Gaba

A lovely new visitor pointed out Gaba to me , the fashion brainchild of Aneeth Arora and Chinar Farooqui . The AW collection comprising of blacks, whites and grays is a throw back to bohochic. The clever layering makes for a very versatile collection that would do well in the Indian summer. The Churidar makes an appearance as does the ubiquitous keffiyeh inspired scarf. Despite my penchant for colour , this collection completely has my heart. More here.

  1. I wouldn't exactly wear all of these, but I love the neutral palette and it all looks really comfy.

  4. I have been a fan of your blog for some time now. I really don't think there is any other blog or site that provides such a window on contemporary art and design. I only have one grouse - your blogs on fashion- somehow you dont seem to focus on the new cutting edge contemporary designers who have been making waves during the last two seasons- even as an Indophile living in Europe I couldn't help but notice some of the really amazing new designers who have emerged in India and who I feel are truly contemporary in their design- not selling kitsch or 're-inventing' european designers, with a voice thats truly unique- Varun Sardana, Arjun Saluja and Anuj Sharma are true precursors of the coming of age of Indian fashion- you have a look at their work you will see what I'm talking about. I'm sadly disappointed with some of your choices fashion- Drashta? - how can one not see the "inspiration" from Hermes and Prada and the fit of the garments in the pictures on your blog are appalling, just see the tights! and Gabba is so Etro and Sabyasachi inspired. Please post some truly original designers so that the fashion on the blog is in sync with the rest of the amazing contemporary Indian design you always showcase :)

  5. Benoit ,

Sorry to hear you feel this way. Thanks for highlighting those designers. I've heard of two of them , definitely very good designers. In fact I am on the verge of featuring one of them. In my defense, if you haven't already noticed, Art is my main forte. I try my best to include everything else, but seeing as this isn't my day job , I already have my hands full with just the minimal upkeep. I would love to do more research but I tend to just post what catches my eye and whoever happens to get in touch with me.

Thanks for your opinion. I guess I could use more reader participation , so all thoughts and opinions and tip offs are welcome.

  6. Well done on a most enlightening blog. I travel to India often to purchase garments and fabrics for my boutique in Kenya. Could you put me in touch with the talented designers Aneeth Arora and Chinar Farooqui of Gaba. Their garments are so refreshing and most suited to our weather in Africa. I first noticed their delightful designs in Ogaan during my recent journey to Delhi and would appreciate their contact.
