Piyali Ghosh

Piyali Ghosh graduated with a master's degree in Fine Arts from the M.S University in Baroda in 2007. It's hard to believe that these are from Ghosh's very first solo exhibition seeing as to how complex and intricate her pieces are and how her narrative unfolds often to be found at the point of first encounter. She is heavily inspired by folktales and fables .Animals and humans cavort in fantastical landscapes, filled with iridescent yellows, blues and greens. The stylistic aspect of the paintings are strongly reminiscent of the Kerala temple mural paintings. Images from here.

  2. fond memories came flooding by as i recognised the folk-style, lyrical, story-telling quality and a colour palette from neverland; i remembered comparing her work to likes of mani da and a.ramachandran the first time i saw her work at m.s.u.
