Tayeba Lipi

Tayeba Lipi is from Northern Bangladesh and attended the Institute of Fine Art in the University of Dhaka for an M.F.A in drawing and painting in 1993. Lipi’s art often involves portraiture and feminine iconography (such as mannequins and dolls) to explore themes around the nature of female identity. Images from here.

  1. I love the way she's using mehndi/tattooing in these... an interesting tribal kinda narrative - would love to look at these more closely!

I like her installations too - really fascinating.

  2. I really thought her installations were interesting. The Bangladeshi artists really seem to be doing some impressive work . Strange that you hardly hear of it.
