I wanted to start posting more Indigenous arts & crafts from India & found these when I was looking for Channapatna toys . Any of you ever have one of those little kitchen sets as a kid? I believe it's called Choppu in Tamil . Perhaps I'm fated to become a domestic Goddess (:P) , because I was really obsessed with them when I was a wee lass. This was also fueled by the fact that my grandmother indulged me greatly and went all out and bought my cousin and I a complete , working mini kitchen set that we (i.e. Gramms) even cooked a full fledged meal in.

I love these toys - esp. the doll. I came across one in a car boot sale here recently - only my mother refused to let it in the house as she was convinced it was posessed!
ReplyDeleteI also had one of those kitchen sets! I keep coming across bits and pieces of it now in the corners of our house... no domestic goddess though, me.
haha, HM , I'm with your mum on this. I've never been a doll person and I definitely wouldn't buy a doll with 'history' , if you know what I mean. :P
ReplyDeleteOh..this reminded me of my long past childhood ;)...I had a miniature version of God knows how many things..kitchen sets, fridge, fan, dinky cars, clothes
ReplyDelete...interestingly the grown up versions haven't generated half as much excitement as the minis used to!

Wow.. i still have the little kitchen set with me :) also a small bullock cart.. they are my prized possessions. just dont know how to display the kitchen sent in the house..
