This artist from Rajastan has an M.F.A in Print Making from the J.J.School of Art, Mumbai. His latests works titled, Crazy Stills is a collection of prints and watercolour works that are humourous naratives of his psuedonym Kunwarji's adventures. His paintings are an inevitable mix of urban pop & ethnic mythology. His technique in water colours is reminiscent of miniature painting & Kerela's mural paintings. I actually find his work very entertaining. This last one of Hanuman cracks me up. No prizes for guessing that there are already several Hindu fundamentalists groups on his case (literally)

Wow, I love your blog. So many artists I wasn't familiar. And the mark up on those gorgeous stuffed animals would be funny if it weren't also too sad.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on mine.

ReplyDeleteAmbika, love your blog too. Yeah , but hopefully things will turn around for the better what with more awareness about fair trade.
ReplyDeletePurnima, thanks for visiting! I think art is very subjective. I don't think the artist's intention was to offend anyone, I think he was trying to see the lighter side of things. It's important to understand the artists intention before branding him .
haha.. totaly cracked me us as well. i want to show the last pic to father.. his comments and reactions would be priceless ;p
